Praying Victoriously

Psalm 116:1-2(NIV)

I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me , I will call on him as long as I live.

In a time of great global or even personal chaos and shaking, we recognize that God is our only unshakable source of deliverance. If there has ever been a time when we need God’s delivering power and mercy it is now! In response to a global pandemic the church is now praying in unprecedented ways. Social media and the internet itself serve as remarkable platforms for us to connect our hearts together in prayer.

But are we praying effectively? Not perfectly, but effectively? Prayer is not just a religious exercise that proves our devotion to God. It is an outgrowth of how we intimately relate to God; how we see him and how he sees us. Often, without realizing it, we carry mindsets into our prayer closets that subtly undermines our ability to pray the true prayers of faith our times require.

Our tendency to pray out of an old covenant mindset is one fo the greatest deterrents to victorious praying as new creation sons and daughters of God. The sin consciousness of the old covenant worshipper tremendously colored their approach to God in prayer. We must make every effort to place our gaze on Jesus, the one who took away our sins so we can joyfully and experientially receive the mercy we are crying out for.

In this epoch time of grace we can change the trajectory of evil in the world and release the lovingkindness of a God who visits mankind with saving power. We need only engage in prayers based on Jesus outlandish victory over sin and the devil to secure our needed answers.
